What does it cost to truly go green?

http://www.carpoint.com.au/advice/2008/small-passenger/honda/civic-hybrid/myth-busting-buying-a-hybrid-car-will-save-me-money-7537

makes the point that it is a myth its cheaper: "Hybrids are expensive. If we take the case of the latest Honda Civic Hybrid, the Hybrid Civic retails at just under $33,000. The pure-petrol largely spec-equivalent Civic VTi-L retails at $24,990. That's $8000 difference!
So how long would it take for an average user to save $8000 in fuel when driving a hybrid? At $1.50/litre, if you averaged 20,000km a year, it would take more than 11 years!"

Style Icon: Julia Roberts

Watching my best friends wedding I realized what a huge Icon Julia Roberts used to be. Her lip, also, shocked me. So amazing the lip stick used makes her lips look naturally tinted enough to stand out, minimal enough to be taken for the "born with" look.

Curly damsel hair, Deep brown eyes, Earrings were lovely, blue sweater was beautiful in the kiss in the gazibo scene and a round pendant she wore was lovely. Very elegant hands and facial features top it all off making her look great even in an ugly suit. Amazing how beauty looks better with ugly things (ie: nerd glasses on totally beautiful face looks even more amazing)

Now lets look at the style she wore.....
Mens suit outfit giving her an acentuation on her feminine look. This trend is great with the pants being one of the trends either colour blocking or

Animal print added for spicing it up

We’ve been tuning in to The Voice religiously — not only to see which contestants make it through, but also to check out Delta Goodrem’s hair and makeup. What can we say — it’s research! The sole female coach certainly hasn’t disappointed us, switching up her style and experimenting with new beauty looks for each live show. We caught up with her makeup artist, Noni Smith, to get the lowdown on her latest look. “Last night was tricky as we had two outfits to make it work with,” Smith said. In order to make the look versatile enough to wear with both outfits, Smith opted for a gorgeous “smouldery, shapely eye.” See how she created the look.

BASE: Smith used NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($68) and By Terry Touch Expert Ultra Radiance Active Concealer ($68), which was applied under the eye area.

EYES: She lined Delta’s eyes with MAC Powerpoint Pencil in Grey Utility ($32) and used three MAC eyeshadows ($33 each) — Knight Divine (steely grey), Greensmoke (sparkly olive) and Retrospeck (a shimmery beige) — to “create a smouldery, shapely eye”.

LASHES: Smoke and Mirrors lashes in New York City (approx $13.75) were used, which are Smith's favourite.

LIPS: Smith used MAC Lip Pencil in Dervish ($30) to line Delta’s lips before Big Baby Plushglass ($39) was applied.

CHEEKS: MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty ($43) was applied to Delta’s cheeks.

What a woman wants:

I believe women are complex creatures but are the highlight to life. Were not so hard to get to know though. We want Jewelry Chocolate shoes and clothes. We want someone to look into our eyes in a candlelit room that is clean and scented with candles. We want to be the best female we can be if not ever existed. We want to be wanted and to be feminine. We want to be smart and powerful and sucessful but often do not have even a shot at half our potential. We want to have Joy and laugher and friendship that is like a closest sister so we can even act up and their is still no drama only love. We want cosmetics being retouched in a bathroom while holding a conversation with our closest girlfriends that will make up our minds about current social situations. And most of all we want to be adored and in full bloom. Why is that so hard to understand....?

VINTAGE OP SHOP BUY!!

Hi all, I just went to the shops for some autum fashion and saw the the colours for autum are marone and cream, teal and mustard, also camel. These are in a 1950's style harvard jumpers & riviera chanel throw back style. So I was going to buy them for $30 an item minimun three items for a look and then I decided not to. I went to the op shop and I got these instead.
Of course the buttons need replacing on them both to update them. But they are super lovely and I can keep my money for the cost of buying new pants and boots.

FASHION for winter/Autum

Looking at the top three known to me: Chanel, D&G & Burberry this morning to get the heads up on the new seasons looks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSrYbzeBOfs

But taking all this high fashion in I always have the repulsion of the fashion industry. All this money for clothes?>? There are so much more important things to spend money on. I'm sure if they didn't spend so much on the set up of their fashion events and spent more on the poor or disadvantaged in the world This world wont be such a cold horrible place for the needy where the rich get more self obsessed and more charity minded. I'm sure they have a business plan that says if they put on a great show they can sell more and give more. But I feel sick thinking about the greed of this too.

But the artist in myself looks at these shows and loves the ultimate expression of someone with an idea and creates a beautiful range. The power of creation speaks to me as an artists as important and has a place in the world to make this world a hopefull and beautiful place.

I don't quite know what to do with this but maybe if the creative expression was done in a cost effective and recycled way that gave the needy a hand up. And is there a way to do it that doesn't look junky? But I don't think that the higher end of fashion would ever through its self into this mode because it would take telling the rich not to be obsessed with them selves. Some would but I'd say most would not. Can you imagine Hollywood stars going down the redcarpet in anything less than brand spanking new??
I think in the beauty industry that some jump on the back of some causes for good but the leader is the body shop so I think that I might be becoming a body shop independent distributor. Wonder if anyone out there know what its like to do this...Most online say that it is hard to compete with the local shops. maybe a distributor of something you can't get anywhere else. paulas choice is one this I'd love to do but they don't have a local thing in australia.
